Re: [suse-amd64] 64-bit laptop

Hello About your first question : I wrote a previous mail about 64 bits laptop. It is in this mailing list of October. If you want to use a 64 bits linux such as Suse 9.1, you should verify if the video part of the laptop is supported by 64 bits drivers. The main video cards for laptop with Athlon64 are based on ATI or nVidia chipsets. ATI does not supply a 64 bits drivers. Only nVidia supplies such a driver. My ASUS L5D series laptop is built with a nVidia gForce 5650 video and a nVidia gForce 3 150Go chipset for Athlon64. The Acer Aspire 1511 (or 151x) is based on the same chipset, the video is a gForce 5700. The previous one, the 1501 used an ATI video card and a VIA chipset. These two laptop are available in France. Have a look on this website : http://www.amdboard.com You will see all the 64 bits laptop. Regards Pascal ================= I'm going to order a new 64-bit laptop today. I have 2 questions. 1.) what is the best model (tried and true) to purchase to run SuSE 9.1 + on? 2.) I'm sure this has already been discussed. I remember someone stating the syntax used to search this mailing list with google, can someone tell me again? Thanks in advance B-)
