Hi all, please be kind with YANQ - yet nother newbe question .. I've installed several Suse Linux Versions form CD/DVD succesfully in the past, (6.x, 7.y, 8.1..) but now I'm puzzled with installation from ftp: I've downloaded the 9.2 boot.iso, burned it on a CD. - fine, The machine boots, - fine. I can configure my network card and so on, BUT ------> I don't enter the internet with the network card but with a modem (56k :-), makes fun in these days...) Normally, from a running system, I start up the thing with the usual scripts (/etc/sys...../../ifup-ppp ...and so on), then do ftp blablabla, but this is not possible during the installation, as no option for it is to be found in the installation dialogues. Additionally, I'm asked for an IP adress of the ftp server, but so far only now the name adresses (ftp.suse.com/pub/suse...). ... Any help form the experts to sort this out is greatly appreciated !! -Carsten
We are running SuSE 9.3 with KDE. In the SuSE version of OpenOffice on the Athlon 64, printing is verrry buggy. You can click, print, but nothing happens. The CUPS print queue also says printer is ready, and nothing is in the queue. Using the OpenOffice rpms directly from OOo works fine, but isn't integrated into SUSE like the OpenOffice that comes with it (doesn't have the KDE extenstions). Can anybody else also check this out?? Joel Webb WebbGroup Network Systems L.L.C.

OpenOffice would run AOK as a 32-bit app, wouldn't it ? -- William A. Mahaffey III ---------------------------------------------------------------------- In your best 'singsong-gnome' (a.k.a. Yoda) voice: The keyboard is my ally, and a POWERFUL ally it is.

From what it looked like to me, that is what I was running. I mounted the DVD and the first one didn't have OpenOffice in the x64 directory. It did have it in the i586 directory, which leads me to believe that SuSE is loading the 32 bit version on the system instead of a compiled version of it. I got a response back this morning that there was an issue with the ghostscript driver. So until then, I am going to have my guy use the OpenOffice program straight from OpenOffice.org. I just wish he could have used the kde-extension within the program. It is really tough breaking our employees over from MS Windows, when OpenOffice doesn't work properly. But our employees have been fond of the "Format Painter" feature that was missing in OOo 1.0. that is now in the OOo 2.0 BETA
