I'm running this same mobo, and had the same problems with a Plextor 712s SATA DVD. In my case, I couldn't get it to work through any normal means. I swapped it out to my wifes box, and put her Sony in mine. Both drives work great in their chosen homes. Sorry the news wasn't better.
