I d/l'ed the blackdown 64-bit jre 1.4.2 and I still cannot get the following site to work: www.rockauto.com (click on big red button) Instead of gettng a missing plugin I now get just a grey box with a red x in the corner.... I created symlink in the firefox plugin directory as instructed.... Any ideas?
To get java/flash/whatever plugins to work in Firefox, just dl and install the 32bit x86 version of firefox. It's also on ftp.suse.com (firefox 1.0) ===== ----------------------------GOODWINLABS: www.crystalweb.us/goodwinlabs

They do not exist. The only rceourse as recommended is to install 32-bit firefox as already recommended. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====

One does exist and works well for me (including the url you gave Joe). As mention in another thread, ftp://ftp.tux.org/pub/java/JDK-1.4.2/amd64/fcs/ has a 64 bit java that works fine with 64 bit mozilla and firefox. Joe, I installed the blackdown jre in usr/share/ . My symlink for mozilla is in /opt/mozilla/lib64/plugins and points to /usr/share/j2re1.4.2/plugin/amd64/mozilla/libjavaplugin_oji.so My symlink for firefox is in /opt/MozillaFirefox/lib64/plugins and points to the same file. Using firefox, I was able to bring up https://www.rockauto.com/applet3.html (which is the url the big red button points to). I thought at first it wasn't going to work. It took a little while, but it did open a 3 tab screen with the first tab showing car models. It works for me isn't a lot of help, except to say it can work. You might check to be sure you did get the 64 bit version and make sure your link points to the right place. Its easy to get a typo in it. Good luck Doug

I overlooked the java and mozplugger plugins, others such as helix, realplayer, quicktime and other useful ones will need to be forgotten for now. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce .... Hamradio G3VBV and keen Flyer =====LINUX ONLY USED HERE=====

Confusing: this site works for me. I can interact with this applet using both firefox (64-bit) and konqueror. On the other hand, I am not using the Blackdon jre, but the Sun java that came with 9.2. Maybe some info on my system will help: O/S: SuSE 9.2 Pro kernel: 2.6.8-24.5-smp Java: java-1_4_2-sun-devel-1.4.2.05-9 java-1_4_2-sun-1.4.2.05-9 F'Fox: MozillaFirefox-0.10.0-14.2 If you can think of any other details that might help, let me know. Also not that IBM has a 64bit Java SDK and JRE for AMD64 that is certified for both SuSE and RedHat (enterprise editions of course). Here are the links. I use it on SLES9 with good results. I cannot say for sure whether it will work with SuSE 92. Pro - but you can easily try it. http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/linux140/ (use the download link to the top right of the page, you have to fill out a form but its free). http://www-106.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/linux/tested.html Hope this helps - Richard -----Original Message----- From: Darrell Shively [mailto:sused@mucus.com] Sent: Friday, December 10, 2004 9:01 PM To: suse-amd64@suse.com Subject: Re: [suse-amd64] 64-bit Firefox and Java plugin Hi Joe: On Friday 10 December 2004 10:03, Joe Georger wrote:

I see only IBM SDK for 64-bit iSeries/pSeries IBM SDK for 32-bit xSeries (Intel compatible) IBM SDK for 32-bit iSeries/pSeries IBM SDK for 31-bit zSeries (S/390) but no 64bit version for AMD64? Best regards -- Mirek Ruda

Hmm. The page displayed for the first link (above) has a first paragraph that ends as ".. Click here to download this development kit.". The "Click here" is a hyperlink to https://www6.software.ibm.com/dl/lxdk/lxdk-p After signing in the next page displays a a total of 20 platforms available for downloading. The 8th option on the page is for "IBM SDK for 64-bit AMD/Opteron / Version 142 GA / Languages: / English International". It is running on our production server as of this morning with no problems whatsoever. Maybe the platforms are displayed based on your profile preferences? Not sure why else you would not see the AMD/Opteron option. - Richard

Probably something in my IBM profile, after some cleanup I already see Opetron version too. Thanks for your help. Mirek Ruda
anybody here who was able to export a webalbum with the kalbum photo-organizer. on my system the kalbum is doing nothing when i hit the "export as webalbum" button :-( i already tried to install the kalbum from a source-ball but the configure fails at while testing libjpeg, it seems that the libjpeg from SuSE 9.2 doesn't support some features needed by kalbum to compile. any ideas? best regards, F. Works with 9.2-x86_64 on my machine, just tested twice.
i already tried to install the kalbum from a source-ball but the configure fails at while testing libjpeg, it seems that the libjpeg from SuSE 9.2 doesn't support some features needed by kalbum to compile.
add --enable-libsuffix=64 to the configure options. (Hard to say anything with your description, though ;-) )
any ideas?
