RE: [suse-amd64] OpenOffice and suse 10
Try again. I've recently installed it to 2 64 bit machines (2.0.1) on SUSE10 Pro. Works fine. I did, however, at one time get the same messages on 9.3 but not 10. Something has been fixed apparently.

Hi,
I have not been able to run openoffice 2 in suse 10(64 bits). The error message is 'no suitable windowing system found, exiting' I have seen in internet that a possible solution is installing libstartup-notification, but I have it installed(ver 0.8.8), both 64 and 32 bits, and still no luck.
Thanks in advance for any help. Thanks, but version 2.0.1 from openoffice.org, or 2.0.1 from suse?
Thanks again.
I used the OOo site. I don't think SUSE has released 2.0.1 yet. At lease I haven't seen it in any of the updates. 2.0.1 fixed some serious bugs that bit me too so SUSE should get the lead out and get 2.0.1 out the door! OOo will install to /opt so you need to be root user. Then just repoint the desktop icon to the new location (in programs directory). Of course you need to fix the file associations thru Konqueror as well for "clickability". HTH. On Monday 16 January 2006 11:11 am, Gustavo Dutra wrote:
