FYI, we've put the SUSE Linux 9.3 Professional version on our web servers, you'll find a full ftp version (with a small network boot ISO), a 4.3 GB DVD image (usable for both 64-bit x86-64 and 32-bit x86) and 5 CDs (only 32-bit x86). We call it Eval - but it's a full-blown installation, just half the size of the 8.5 GB DVD that's shipped, so it misses a few apps, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
Hi: I was wondering if someone on this list could help me install on a suse 9.3 amd64 machine. I found an rpm on the web at http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/3/srodzaj/2/search/libgmp-devel-4.1.4-a... it failed to install (using kpackage) due to a dependency, then downloaded it and it failed to load since it needed /sbin/postun_ldconfig. I'm having trouble finding this. TIA. - David Joyner

Why are you not using the SUSE package "gmp"? /sbin/postun_ldconfig is a Red Hat package which we do not use, just ignore the dependency, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

I'm trying to compile Singular http://www.mathematik.uni-kl.de/ftp/pub/Math/Singular/SOURCES/3-0-0/ from source. One of the Singular authors said I needed libgmp-devel for the compilation.

Okay, thanks.

Use use gmp, it has everything you need - libgmp-devel is the Red Hat name for the same package... Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
