I am using a Tyan S2880 with the LSI 320-4x. It works well for us using both the megaraid.o and the megaraid2.o drivers that ship with SUSE8.2b9. We use the 320-1 and 320-2 on dual Athlon/Tyan systems here in the shop. The function very well. Something that you will want to check: The LSI software does NOT presently run on Opteron. This may also be the case for Adaptec, I do not know. However, I know that LSI tech support is easy to get to an engineer. I don't have to wait on hold, I know their names, specialties and who handles what is happening. If you have a config you want them to test or have questions about, give them a call: (866)-828-9574. When you call, tell them that you want MegaRAID software for Opteron. The more that let them know the sooner we get it. Santiago mleads.com

I'm putting together a dual opteron system. I'm considering two SCSI RAID controllers:

1) Adaptec SCSI RAID 2120S (single-channel, Ultra320)

2) LSI MegaRAID SCSI 320-1 (single-channel, Ultra320)

Will both of these work with any x86-64 linux kernels (64 bit), and will they work with the kernels shipped with either SLES8 (x86-64) or SuSE8.2 (x86-64) Beta9 ?
