What about a boot cd for performing network installs? I guess this will be coming with the rest of the SuSE 9.2 ftp image? Is there any chance of getting this boot.iso beforehand?

That's correct.

The CDs are only 32-bit x86. You really have to use the DVD for a 64-bit installation...
