RE: [suse-amd64] Suse 9.2 CD1 64-bit installation

Hi, What about a boot cd for performing network installs? I guess this will be coming with the rest of the SuSE 9.2 ftp image? Is there any chance of getting this boot.iso beforehand? thanks, grant -----Original Message----- From: Andreas Jaeger [mailto:aj@suse.de] Sent: 26 November 2004 16:53 To: Chiu, PCM (Peter) Cc: 'suse-amd64@suse.com' Subject: Re: [suse-amd64] Suse 9.2 CD1 64-bit installation "Chiu, PCM (Peter)" <P.C.M.Chiu@rl.ac.uk> writes:
I have just experienced that 9.2 installation with CD1 on an Opteron box will only bring up the 32-bit mode. Is there a reason for that, and a way round this other than using a dvd drive?
That's correct. The CDs are only 32-bit x86. You really have to use the DVD for a 64-bit installation... Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE Linux AG, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

On it's way to the mirrors - in ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/9.2: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 67336192 Nov 29 13:02 SUSE-Linux-9.2-mini-installation.iso This works for both 32-bit and 64-bit x86-64, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
