OK, got my fnacy new DVD writer, and I'm able to mount CD-ROMS on it, and I can (miraculously) play DVD videos using xine. But I'm trying to get dvd+rw-tools to run, to no avail. Things like dvd+rw-mediainfo and dvd+rw-format seem to work, but when I try to write a simple ISO9660 image with growisofs it ends with an I/O error message. The long list of pointer/integer size warnings when compiling the tools did not give me warm fuzzies. Has this worked for anybody on an AMD64? I temporarily shifted the drive over to a Windows machine and had similar failings. So I tried a DVD-R disk instead of a -RW disk and it worked. I moved it back to my Opteron system and I was able to write 4Gig of data to a DVD-R disk. So it looks like I was chasing down a bum DVD-RW disk. I did not expect a brank new, shrink wrapped SONY DVD-RW disk to not work in a brand new, shrink wrapped SONY drive:-/ I have to get back to work for a while, so I haven't tried other -RW disks to see if it is a general problem, or just an isolated dud disk. In any case, it's not a SuSE problem or and AMD64 problem. -- Steve Williams "The woods are lovely, dark and deep. steve at XXXXXXXXXX But I have promises to keep, http://www.XXXXXXXXXX and lines to code before I sleep, http://www.picturel.com And lines to code before I sleep."
