The instructions provided by Joel Pauling were both clear and exceptionally useful at getting the Nvidia driver loaded on my box. My stock 2.6.5 suse kernel was replaced with a kernel 2.6.7 from kernel.org. Thus I had no precomiled nivida. By patching against the 'official' install source from Nvidia I was able to compile and load the nvidia.ko module. I had spent several days attempting to get the pre-build packages provided by www.minion.de to work. Patching against the 'official' source gave me a working module.
