Adaptec aic79xx: cyclic hdd access
Hello community! I have installed both SuSE 9.2 and SLES9 on a SUN W2100Z Workstation. So far so good. The system is installed on a SCSI hdd connected to the onboard adaptec 7902 controller. The aic79xx module is loaded. Even when the system is idle, there are cyclic (appr. each 3 seconds) accesses to the hdd during which the desktop will freeze for a moment, e.g. glxgears will stock also. The system initially came pre-installed with SuSE Linux (don't remember which version) from SUN and didn't show these symptoms. Probably there is a way to fix this. Any ideas what the reason may be? Greetings, Rudi

You may want to follow a similar thread over at suse-linux-e: http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2005-May/3273.html No solution there yet though. Carlos
