All; Okay, here's major problem #2. Hooked to the new computer is my old reliable printer, Epson Stylus Photo 785EPX (USB). The computer: Suse 9.2 AMD 64 AMD Athlon 64 3600+ ASUS A8N-SLi Deluxe mobo 1 GB Corsair XMS DDR 400 memory 2x 12gb Maxtor 120gb SATA hd Sony CD-RW DVD ide (reader) Plextor PX-712SA DVD-RW SATA BFG GeForce 6800 GT OC The problem: The printer,.. doesn't. It just does nothing. I've tried it while booted in a different OS (the box is multi boot), and it works just fine, so the problem is not hardware related. If I use Yast2 to configure it, the printer is correctly identified, which means that it IS talking to the system. The printer also shows up correctly in hwinfo. But when I hit "test" .. nothing comes out. At all. I set loglevel in cups.conf to debug, and debug2 trying to capture an error message, but there's nothing. It simply doesn't print. I'm lost on this one. Printing has always been a simple configuration issue in the past. This one is just puzzling. I'd really appreciate a hand with this. Thanks in advance! -Ric

This e-mail doesn't contain much information to work with: :-( - hwinfo is missing, - cupsd.conf is missing, - printers.conf is missing, - error_log is missing. So, it seems that you are the only person that can access these information. Threrefore you should even try to solve this problem at your own... Try this article for more debugging understanding: http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2004/05/jsmeix_print-cups-in-a-nutshell.html But maybe its only a matter of wrong default options. Then try this article: http://portal.suse.com/sdb/en/2002/11/jsmeix_print-cups-options.html Regards, Klaus. -- Klaus Singvogel SUSE LINUX Products GmbH Maxfeldstr. 5 E-Mail: Klaus.Singvogel@SuSE.de 90409 Nuernberg Phone: +49 (0) 911 740530 Germany GnuPG-Key-ID: 1024R/5068792D 1994-06-27
