I am trying to get my wireless lan (Broadcom) to work on my HP nx6125 laptop. I downloaded the 64-bit Windows driver from the Acer website (only one I could find) Then I installed the driver using ndiswrapper. Everything looks fine until I want to load the modprobe module, but I cannot find one. There is no ndiswrapper module. The ndiswrapper installation does not include any kernel modules. I searched with pin for ndiswrapper.ko and only found one for the 32-bit kernel. Any idea where I can get the module for 64-bit or how to use ndiswrapper on 64-bit platforms? Hi Andre, The kernel module package is called km_ndiswrapper-1.1-4.x86_64.rpm. I tried it and could not get the driver work, I hope you will have more luck. Thanks. I found it and compiled it, and the module loads, but unfortunately the Windows driver I used did not work. :-( -- Andre Truter | Software Engineer | Registered Linux user #185282 ICQ #40935899 | AIM: trusoftzaf | http://www.trusoft.za.org ~ A dinosaur is a salamander designed to Mil Spec ~
Hi, guys. I have a Compaq Presario 3000-series (twin borther of the HP Pavillion 5000), which , fortunately, has the nVidia chipset and graphics card (HP "updated" those twins to Presario 4000 and Pavillion 6000, which now use ATI chipsets and graphics). The wifi is Broadcom. I've had good luck with Linuxant's drivers (www.linuxant.com). I know, I know, they are not open source. One thing I realized while reading the boards pertinent to these laptops is that the Broadom wifi seems to have trouble with memory above 1 GB. The newest versions of ndiswrapper and Linuxant drivers are claimed to work around this problem. So, you need to make sure you are getting the NEWEST drivers. In the case of Linuxant, I think they are 2.28 or later. On the Linuxant site you should be able to find Windows drivers for the Broadcom wifi. Since most laptops --at least here in the US, unfortunately-- come with Windows pre-installed, you may be able to find the right drivers on your Windows partition if your laptop came with it. I have had bad luck with suspend on my laptop, eventhough it uses the nVidia chipset. Maybe SuSE can look into that. I read in different forums that 'agpgart' needs to be compiled as a module (not incorporated in the kernel) for suspend to work. I did it, but it did not help. I found out that Linuxant's 'driverloader' module (equivalent to ndiswrapper) seems to interfere with suspend, so it needs to be unloaded prior to suspending. I managed to do suspend to disk once with SuSE 9.1 or 9.2, but I think I was using the generic 'nv' driver for my X server. You may want to compile as many modules as possible outside the kernel and unload them before suspending to figure out if any of them interfere with suspend. Currently, my laptop will go into suspend alright, but upon waking up it loses the keyboard and display. However, it does respond to pings. The SuSE 9.3 manual (p.p. 307-308) recommends that you look into the dsdt tables for your laptop. Hope this helps. CF Andre Truter wrote:
