no way to root connection from KDM after upgrade KDE 3.4 on SuSE 9.2 AMD64 <SOLVED>
Hello I recognise that my previous mail should be sent to the KDE topic. But the problem is not on a laptop with SuSE 9.3 and KDE 3.4.0. That's why I thought it was only for KDE 3.4.x AMD64. I could solve the problem of no root connection with KDM of KDE 3.4.2 as update of KDE 3.3 of SuSE 9.2. This is not in fact a problem. This is for security. But there is no other user of my laptop. So sometimes it can be useful to connect under root login. And I discovered that with "sux - root", I can't launch X11 softwares. So, a good reason to be able to establish a root connection ... - For root connection : the file kdmrc to be modified is in /etc/opt/kde3/share/config/kdm Set "AllowRootLogin=true" instead of false. Achtung : not the kdmrc in /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm ! - For background of login bannier : with Kcontrol this background can be modified after KDE root connection .... but no effect :-( ! In fact, the right file to be modified is backgroundrc in /opt/kde3/share/config/kdm ! This implies to edit the file. Regards Pascal
