Re: [suse-amd64] suse 9.3 - Tyan S4882 - Kernel Panic during boot

We have the same Tyan running with 32GB RAM without problems under Suse 9.1. We don't even think about an update. Suse 9.2 should also work. - Do you have any strange PCI-hardware on the PCI-slots or are they free? You should remove any PCI-hardware. - Did you tried some boot-options as 'iommu=noforce' etc. or simply the Save-Settings boot option Suse always installs?
I don't think about an update either, because there is nothing I could update :-) Let's say it this way: In the Moment it's more or less fun to try different things with this machines :-) The 3ware is the only PCI-Hardware plugged in. iommu=noforce is IIRC one of the 'Save-Settings" boot option. But I tried more then this one. acpi=off nosmp maxcpus=1 pci=nobios pci=bios ... And as I said before FC3 is running without any problems. kernel 2.6.11-1.14_FC3. So, I think my Hardware isn't to exotic to boot linux :-) Will give SUSE 9.3 another chance tomorrow on another machine of the same type. Bis denne, Michael
