Why don't they mention the Opteron?
Hello everyone, It seemed odd to me that while checking SuSE's site, they don't mention the Opteron as a supported processor for SuSE 9.2 Prof. Besides mentioning I386, they mention Athlon and EMT64, but not the Opteron... I assume SuSE 9.2 will not have any problems on the Opteron... Regards ________________________________________ Ricardo R Palma SYNOPSIS SA Telef. 9.1 has no problems with my opterons I downloaded the Live dvd of 9.2 and that booted fine and seemed to work OK. - Richard -- Richard Kimber http://www.psr.keele.ac.uk/

opteron has the same instruction set as athlon64/fx. the only differences between all the processors are built-in-memory-controllers (dualchannel, singlechannel), cache sizes, bus speeds, frequency and multiprocessing capabilities.
