succes! ATI with hardware 3d in 9.1
Hi list, After reading logs and using the google I got hardware 3d accelleration on my ATI 9200SE even UT2004 is playable. The problem is the dri modules suse provides. These are not the actual ones that come with the kernel. I recompiled the standard kernel with the dri from that one and all is working now. Read my submission for the unofficial suse faq for a walk through with extra bonus: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=966112&group_id=42064&atid=439829 Next stop is enabling the speed stepping. That still is not working here. BB, Arjen

Really? I did get it to launch, but it locked up almost everywhere, had garbled fonts, and was veeery far from playable... Was that 64bit or 32bit version? What resolution? (Btw, I get around 2200 fps with glxgears - Radeon 9000, Athlon64 3000+, at 1280x1024 16bit colour)

Do they have 32bit emulation as well?

This was the 64bit version at any resolution of 1280x1024 and below. your framerate is good for your card I guess, the 9200se is not a high performance card

Ehm I should rephrase that. I recompiled the standard SuSE kernel (2.6.4) to use the kernel's dri for radeon. BB, Arjen
