kernel panic loading dpt_i2o
I am trying to install 9.0 for AMD64 on a Tyan S2882 motherboard with Adaptec 2015S ZRC RAID. I have successfully installed the i386 version on this machine using the dpt_i2o driver. When I try to load the same driver when booting from the AMD64 CD, I get a kernel panic with the following message: Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 00000000 5e9f08. The system has 4GB of RAM installed. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). The dpt_i2o driver is not 64bit safe. It was a bug in the kernel configuration that it was even enabled. You'll have to use another adapter for the 64bit kernel or ask Adaptec for a fixed driver. -Andi
