-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I find that serial UART devices, whether ftdi based or pl2303 based, will hang the system (responds to nothing but reset) if I hot-plug the port in. There seems to be no trouble if the device is plugged in before booting, but if I hotplug additional ports, or unplug and replug, one of the hotplugs will crash the system. I'm running SuSE 9.2 x86_64 on a dual-processor HDAMB system that is otherwise stable. - -- Steve Williams "The woods are lovely, dark and deep. steve at .......... Yes the pl2303 driver is a bit flakey in older release. 10.1 will hopefully have that fixed. Or just don't hotplug it. -Andi

But what about the ftdi device? I've managed to hang the system with an ftdi based device as well. It is true that I sit with a pl2303 device plugged in, but I then hotplug an ftdi device and get the same crash. Can the pl2303 driver be making nonsense just by sitting there while a ftdi driver is plugged-unplugged? - -- Steve Williams "The woods are lovely, dark and deep. steve at ..........
