I am very happy to read the announcement that several chipsets SATA should work. I want to build a new system. I am considering amd64 and amd64fx. It is not easy to browse MB and figure out which chipsets are on which boards. Can anyone tell me a MB that will definately work for SATA right now?
Now is a problem for the future with Athlon64, because now it has 754 pins, but in the future, it will have 940 pins as the Opteron.

i was under the impression that the basic athlon 64 was going to stay at 754 for a while as the higher pin count was for dual-channel ram which is only for the athlon 64 fx and opteron. also, the fx is not going to be staying at 940. it's going to 939 so that unregistered ram can be used.

It's not such a big deal. You buy a motherboard and processor together, and that's that. Then you use it for a while. Three years from now, they'll both be hopelessly obsolete.
