After the installation of Suse 9.1 on a amd 64 pc with nvidia fx5200 card i have no graphics. I always get the same message apm_bios not present and (EE) Nod devices detected no screens found I have made the online update to use the nvidia driver but i had no success. Any help ? Thanx
Hi Sorry, but I cant help you, I have a similar problem with the nvidia fx5200 chip and the driver from nvidia. I restored my XF86config manually but after a random time, X crashes without any logmessages completely. It seems, that the driver is not working (yet) for that chip :-( If you are shure, that your card is correctly connected in the agp-port (the device is detected) and yast cant figure out a working XF86config, try to use the old config-File (with the driver "nv") and wait for the next nvidia-driver update. I have always gotten nVidia drivers to work. Some take a little more tweaking than others. From the text below, almost sounds like you don't have your monitor parms large enough. What I mean is, if Sax2 detects a standard monitor, or you specified one like 'standard vga 640x480', then when X initializes the nVidia driver, it will limit what is needed for monitor, for example the resolution may be limited to 8x6 or bigger, or need a higher scan rate.
