RE: [suse-amd64] Xvnc broken?
Just in case it wasn't clear. Vncserver works very well with 8.2 SuSE EL for AMD64. We've been using it for remote administration of production servers for months. Note that, if the default denial of remote login of root is set (as it should be), Xvnc will segfault if you try to invoke it as root. You must PuTTY or telnet into the server and start vncserver as a non-root user. Each user must start their own Xvnc process with vncserver. -----Original Message----- From: Stefan Fent [mailto:sf@suse.de] Sent: Tuesday, September 23, 2003 7:30 AM To: ab@u1.com Cc: suse-amd64@suse.com Subject: Re: [suse-amd64] Xvnc broken? * ab@u1.com <ab@u1.com> [030923 14:23]:
Hello,
I am not able to get vncserver or Xvnc working under beta 9. Xvnc exits with a segmentation violation.
Config: single 242 cpu, 512 mb ram, K8D Master mb.
Is it working for anyone else?
No, it's not. But it will be working in the next distribution. But it should be possible to use the 32bit (i386)-package. (I never tested that with 8.2)
Thanks, Sheb
