Does SuSE 9.1 Professional AMD64 support 4-way opteron platforms?
Hi all, Just wondering if we can run 9.1 Prof on a 4-way box. Have anyone actually tried it? Thanks, adrian

I haven't tried it, but there's no reason why a SMP-kernel shouldn't handle four cpus as well as two. This is a question about the linux kernel, not SuSE specifically. And the linux kernel have been able to handle four cpus without problems for quite some time - I have a few of those myself. The problem with multi-cpu boxes isn't the cpus, but may be all the other funny stuff one tends to put in them to have them work as a server - RAID-controller, in particular, is something you need to be careful in chosing.
