Hi, I have tried to install 10.1 on a on MSI K8N Master2-FAR, (dual Opteron 240, 2GB mem and Matrox Parhelia). It ran 10.0 without any problems. When I try to upgrade, the upgrade itself seems to succeed, even up to the last step: displaying the release notes. At this moment in the upgrade process the system has already booted the new os from disk. If I click Finish (in Dutch it reads Voltooien), the system reboots, but hangs forever after displaying the step "Starting powerd". When I reset, and reboot, I get a little further: it mounts the 2 disks, enters level 5, but simply halts the system somewhere on the init 5 proces. To be more precise, it displays ¨Starting lampp", then a few seconds later it simply halts and powers off. Any idea what might be going wrong? Can I revert to 10.0 easily? thanks in advance, Jogchum

powerd? There might be some problem talking to your UPS. You could disable that for testing. Otherwise try safe mode. -Andi

It was not powerd, as I thougt I'd seen, but powersaved which halts the system. I managed to boot single user, and disabled the powersaved at inits 2,3 and 5; now Suse start up correctly. Even so, I don't think it's correct behaviour to simply halt the system - without syncing - on call to powersaved... Thanks for your answer, regards, Jogchum

powersaved does CPU frequency scaling. When that happens it is usually a BIOS bug of some sort - the BIOS supplying wrong powernow tables or similar. Or there is a bogus overheat event reported by the BIOS ACPI tables. Best you file a bug with full information (hwinfo, acpidmp, dmidecode output) in http://bugzilla.novell.com -Andi

I tried to file a bugreport with this info, but only 65kB is allowed as comment; hwinfo gives 273 kB already, acpidmp and dmidecode add another 150kB.... How do I add this info? regards, Jogchum

I'm beginning to feel a little stupid here, but I can't find a way to add attachments on the form I get when entering http://bugzilla.novell.com. Otherwise I *would* have filed the info as attachments, I think :-) . What am I missing here? regards, Jogchum

Near the bottom of the bug screen is a "Create a new attachment" link. You must be logged in. -Andi

I'm afraid I still don't see this link. I am logged in (there is a link "Log out - <my email address> present on the screen. Also if I let the browser (Firefox) search the page for "Create" or "attachment" it doesn't find it. Existing links (for example the "Home" "New" "Search" etc links near the bottom of the page are found allright. Has the form changed maybe? regards, Jogchum
