Hi! I'm using SuSE 9.1 for AMD64 and want to install VMware! There are problems with the kernel! Does anybody have an idea, if Vmware works with my Sytsem? regards Jan
Try the latest vmware-any-any-update from http://ftp.cvut.cz/people/vana/vmware/ On Thu, 1 Jul 2004, Jan Hendrik Berlin wrote:

I'm running kernel 2.6.4-52. In order to get vmnet to work, I had to force vmware-config.pl to build a new vmmmon.o and vmnet.o. To do that, I removed vmware with rpm -e, rebooted and reinstalled it with rpm -i. I then made the vmmon.o's & vmnet.o's shipped with the product invisible to vmware-config.pl by renaming them like so: $ for f in `find /usr/lib/vmware/modules/binary -name vmmon.o` do mv $f $f.bak done $ for f in `find /usr/lib/vmware/modules/binary -name vmnet.o` do mv $f $f.bak done Then, I ran vmware-config.pl which then built a new vmmon.o and vmnet.o.

Hi thank you all... But I think M. Ranjit Mathews had the same problem as me! Am Freitag, 2. Juli 2004 10:11 schrieb M. Ranjit Mathews:

I don't know what the meaning is! I must build new vmmon.o's & vmnet.o's??? vmware-config.pl does it, but there were problems with it!
$ for f in `find /usr/lib/vmware/modules/binary -name vmmon.o` do mv $f $f.bak done
$ for f in `find /usr/lib/vmware/modules/binary -name vmnet.o` do mv $f $f.bak done
ok ok! I have ti build it new! But where should I put in this lines above???
Then, I ran vmware-config.pl which then built a new vmmon.o and vmnet.o.
sounds easy, but it isn't! regards Jan
