Is it safe to install the ATI drivers "fglrx-4.3.0-3.9.0.i386.rpm" onto a machine running the 64bit version of SuSE? Thanks Jason
Hello Jason, in my case, the driver didn't work. I couldn't compile the module. Now I use a NVidia card, because it works with SuSE for amd64. Greetings Achim Am Friday 16 July 2004 04:26 schrieb themadtux:

Because there's AFAIK no such thing ATI's proprietary 64bit drivers. But there are the 64bit DRI drivers(included), but they obviously don't include as many features(though you can still play UT2004... :), and have 32bit support), and only support cards up to Radeon 9200. Anyways, RTFM and be happy. Lots of posts here already made on that. Btw, 1.0-6106 NVIDIA drivers do work suprisingly well with my FX5200 and it's probably the very first time when I can say I'm more or less satisfied with them :) (EXCEPT for the very, very, very annoying framebuffer bug - it *does* matter when you have a monitor which needs to be "heated up" :) before it starts working at lower frequencies(well, there's a way to do it without the framebuffer, sure, but I'd love to have it there in any case)
