I'm interested in comparing the perormance of PGF77 (64bit) with Intel Compiler (ifc 32bit). Has anybody on the list the list experiences with this. I've seen that all the data in the spec website are compiled with ifc, but I'm interested in comparing it whit with PGF77 because we're running a lot of programms written in fortran on our linux cluster. And all of these programms were compiles with 32bit Intel-Compiler. Whatv about the performance of the Portland compiler? Hi,
has anyone experiences with Portland Compiler (Fortran) on AMD64? I'm interested in comparing the perormance of PGF77 (64bit) with Intel Compiler (ifc 32bit). The Portland Compiler is currently your only choice for a 64-bit Fortran95 compiler - and for compilers with OpenMP support. Performance of older 32-bit versions was worse than the Intel compiler but I expect that they've made a lot of progress since then, this really needs some testing, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SuSE Linux AG, Deutschherrnstr. 15-19, 90429 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

Don't Absoft and NAG have 64-bit Fortran compilers. Has anyone tested these programs and do they want to offer some of their experiences? Jeremy

I just checked and noticed that Absoft (never heard of them before) has indeed a AMD64 64-bit Fortran compiler. I didn't check NAG, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SuSE Linux AG, Deutschherrnstr. 15-19, 90429 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126

NAG's f90 compiler for ia32 was just an f90->C translator, I don't know if this is still the case. I used Absoft's f90 complier on ia32 and it was excellent. -- -ckm
