sound problems ...

hello, just installed suse 9.1 pro and while the test sound during install worked i don't hear anything now except the odd awful sound for an error message. followed the instructions for this problem at support db steps 1 and 2, answer yes, and skip to step 13 but at step 14 i don't get the expected message, kamix simply restarts with no sound. thanks
