Hy, I didn´t got any replies to my problem ... Is anyone aware of my problem ? I think I'am not too far from the solution but I'am still sticking in step three ( look below ) Any comments will be appreciated ... Regards Francisco -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hy,
I'am back to report my experiences by installing Suse 9 AMD64 on my K8V deluxe with two 1614c drives system ...
What exactly are you doing? With which disk are you booting?
Per first, I'am booting from the ISO CD ... OK, a little summary from my experiences from the last few weeks ... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. I booted with the Original Suse DVD ... Result: No installation possible with SATA Decision: Prepare the new ISO CD -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2. I booted with the new ISO CD with idle=poll Result: I achieved YAST but no recognition of SATA Decision: Try this rcLinux menu and select SATA driver -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3. I select the VIA SATA Driver from rcLinux and boot Result: Now YAST did recognize my drives, but going on in the installation process with the SUSE proposal is not possible. Also manual config of the drive leads to the same message. This message indicates, that there is a modification needed before the install process can go on ... Decision: Any ideas ... ? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don´t know if the problem is in partitioning my drive. As I formerly said: I've got two Samsung Spinpoint 1614c 160 GB SATA drives. Both are partitioned in each two partitions. C: WinXP NTFS ~75 GB F: empty FAT32 ~75 GB G: empty FAT32 ~75 GB H: empty FAT32 ~75 GB As you may see, I obviously have no problem in reserving a whole drive for Linux. I also have no technical explanation, but I think changing the partition data will not solve my problem ... What do you think ? Any comments will be appreciated !!!!! Regards Francisco
