I have this board running with SuSE 9.1 64bit. The SATA drivers were recognized right out of the box. I noticed that you can't have two drives on the SATA1 at the same time. I don't have RAID on my box, so can't comment on how well that works. I simply turned off RAID in the BIOS and put the second drive on the RAID controller, using it as a regular SATA drive. Good luck, Alex. On Mon, 4 Oct 2004, Mike wrote:
Hi.
I've got a new AMD 3500 -based system on the way, hopefully this week.
It will have an ABIT AV8 mainboard http://www.linuxhardware.org/article.pl?sid=04/10/01/1432245
I've had some experience with AMD64 on plain ATA133 drives, but this box is configured with 2 SATA drives configured as a RAID 0 array using the (software?) raid support provided by the motherboard.
I've been trying to figure out what I've got to do in order to install SuSE pro (I wish 9.2 was out) on it. I understand SATA can be problematic, and SATA RAID configurations seem practically undocumented.
Has anyone experience with this combination that they could share? Thanks in advance!
