I have SuSE 9.0 Professional AMD64 version, and looking wich hardware will work the best with this software. (I try to avoid "difficult components" when I still can)
I can say you have no probs with the AMD8131 chipset Motherboards. I've installed the SuSE 9.0 2 days ago on 'Tyan Tiger K8W (S2875) dual Opteron' with Adaptec SCSI, Plextor 708 DVD, NikkonScanner and so on. SuSE 9.0amd64 runs nearly alone in that machine :-( Greets to Andreas J. and other SuSE workers who worked on 9.0amd64.

I've just used NVidea5200 Gravic's on Asus and Abit Graphic C., that works fine but full supported with NVidea-Drivers. Look that Howto: "ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/X/XFree86/ nvidia-gfx-AMD64-HOWTO" The TyanTiger is aviable with single or dual CPU-socket. Rev. 1.02 is out, with Chipset and Powerdiod-cooling such on TyanThunder K8W ( S2885) Powerconnector EPS or ATX possible. S-ATA and Raid function: S-ATA-HD's arrived tomorrow here than I can try. PS: afk SuSE and AMD worked together for the AMD8000 series chipset support for amd64 SLES and -9.0, so it's a good choise to take a board with them. Tyan, I-will and some MSI boards have them. I have used several Printers, CD-RW's,... and I think most hardware who runs on 9.0 32bit does it on 64bit, too. -- Ciao Marco, registered GNU/Linux-User#313353
