I have a 32bit commercial application (vuescan, hamrick.com) which fails on SUSE 10.0 64 bit. According to its author, the problem is in the /dev/sg driver not implementing 32 bit compatibility, and he doesn't have time to implement vuescan workarounds. This is very annoying, as sane-based opensource scanning applications are all rubbish (trust me I've tried, but that's OT here). Using linux32 doesn't help. Can someone with more detailed kernel knowledge say whether there is some other workaround for Linux? Is there a fix for the sg devices in the pipeline?
