I am trying to get the RAID module compiled for SuSE 9.0 for use with an Athlon64. The RAID controller is a Highpoint 1820. They supply the source to compile your own module, but, I do not have access to a machine that can compile it for the x86_64. It is available at [1]http://www.highpoint-tech.com/BIOS%20%2B%20Driver/rr1820/rr182x-openbuild-v1...
Forget it! The actual RAID code is only supplied as an object file compiled for 32 bit Intel systems, making it a binary only driver for ia32 systems. Complain to HiPoint that they should make a 64 bit version available. Until then you're out of luck. BTW, if you intend to exclusively use Linux on that box, I'd recommend using the software RAID the Linux kernel provides as that card also seems to do the RAID in software. But that would need support in the kernel for the HighPoint SATA chip and I don't know if that's available.
