Suse 9.1 hangs asus sk8v with 4.0gb ram

Hi -- I just upgraded my asus sk8v to four GB of RAM (dual-boot with Windows and Suse 9.1 worked fine with two GB of RAM). Windows boots and shows two GB of RAM. However 9.1 (AMD 64) hangs from both the installation CD and the hard disk. I may have misconfigured the hardware but I thought it was strange that Windows would boot and 9.1 wouldn't.
