HUH?!?!? I've spent hours finding that SLES requires ACPI to be turned *OFF* for many motherboards I've tried it on (and having to edit the Grub menu list on many customer's systems to add "acpi=off". I haven't found a single one that would not boot with "acpi=off". Asus SK8N, MSI-9131, AMD Melody, AMD Solo, AMD Serenade, AMD Quartet. Which Opteron boards are you finding require ACPI to be on?
All the above systems - with the exception of Asus SK8N - work since
The SK8N (or rather the nforce3) ACPI issue will be fixed in SLES8 SP3. The early Melodies all required ACPI to configure the PCI-X bridges. -Andi
