That's normal, it's the way Linux uses memory,
No, the above certainly is not normal at all, if indeed only desktop and kmail are running. Almost all of swap is used, and even with buffers and cache subtracted only 88MB are free. Some program is using all memory. Depending on what runs it might be a memleak. Ciao, Michael.
