general protection rip

      I am running a fortran compiled code (pw.x) on an Opteron machine 
running Suse 9  and I get a segmentation fault.

What puzzled me is the following line in /var/log/messages:

pw.x[18852] general protection rip:2a9581cbe5 rsp:7fbffff200 error:0

any clue on it meaning?
