I tried the 2.4.21 kernel on a dual Opteron 244 machine but it didn't boot correctly. We'll investigate this later today, it did work for us :-(
I also tried 2.60-test3 kernel rpm. This time is a different error. It's complaining about reiserfs.ko is an invalid module format at the boot time.
