Just a guess: you use a bcm57xx driven card? Then you have to use the tg3 driver with 2.6 (there is no bcm5700 in 2.6)
no. I am aware in /etc/modules.conf and in /etc/modprobe.conf I have alias eth0 tg3
Is the tg3 module loaded?
