SUSE Linux does not need a registration code for YOU. So why do you have such a problem?
It looks like the problem was that I installed from the patch CD ...
You might have two products in /var/adm/YaST/ProdDB/.
... which created two product entries in this directory = one for SUSE 9.0 ... and one for the patch CD.
Try removing the broken one,
I reinstalled without the patch CD and was surprised to be able to get up to date patches during the installation process itself! It doesn't look like I'm at 9.0.42, though, whatever that is. linux:~ # uname -a Linux linux 2.4.21-215-smp #1 SMP Tue Apr 27 16:26:32 UTC 2004 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux I'm amazed at how fast it is at certain operations: linux:~ # time find / -type f > files real 0m3.777s user 0m0.206s sys 0m1.137s linux:~ # wc files 228306 228348 12003924 files linux:~ # free total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 4034656 1099540 2935116 0 267928 333600 -/+ buffers/cache: 498012 3536644 Swap: 2123760 0 2123760
