Re: [suse-amd64] apt-get slow as molasses

      ftp.gwdg.de is often very heavily loaded (thousands of concurrent downloads). 
It may occasionally help specifying one of their sub-servers (ftp1.gwdg.de, 
ftp2.gwdg.de, etc) directly instead. Try browsing them from konqueror to get 
get a feeling for where the load is lightest.

(And, yes, I know this defeats the purpose of "virtual" hosts like ftp.gwdg.de 
but what a poor bloke supposed to do when all else fails... ;-) )
