Event report: Open Source Conference Tokyo 2014/Spring
Hi all, I would like to share an event report: We participated in Open Source Conference (OSC) 2014 Tokyo/Spring. It was the 100th in the series of OSC. The series have been held in about ten cities in Japan every year. About 2000 people visited that conference for the two days. http://www.ospn.jp/osc2014-spring/ A report (sorry, written in Japanese) is found here: http://blog.geeko.jp/ftake/853 You can see a photo, slides, and a flyer there. = Booth = We showed small ARM boards on which openSUSE is running. The boards ware Raspberry Pi, Cubieboard, and Beaglebone Black. The demonstration attracted their interest because Raspberry Pi is very popular in Japan these days. We distributed installation media (DVD-R), Geeko Magazine (flyer) and stickers. Since I did not have enough time for burning DVDs, I prepared only 19 copies. We will be very happy if we can get pressed installation media. = Seminar = I had a seminar about using Linux OS for desktop. It was a continuation of the seminar at the last conference in Tokyo. = Others = I brought Geeko (yes, our mascot!) to the supporter characters (of OSS-related products) event and introduced him to the audience. That event was broadcasted on Niconico video, a live stream service. We got comments from the audience as the following: - "Cute!" - "I don't know Geeko has been a mascot for 20 years" After the event, I was interviewed for the Open Source Channel at our booth. The movie will be available from Niconico video: http://ch.nicovideo.jp/oss/videos -- Fuminobu TAKEYAMA -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+owner@opensuse.org
