11.3 Late Launch Party
Yesterday we had the party done finally. We know we were late but it turned out that it worth-ed the waiting. What we had: -We had openSUSE dvd's -We had balloons -We had stickers we made -We had fliers we made -We had a Cake -We had party gear (horns-whistles etc.) -We had a Rock bar for us -We had me as a DJ-VJ -We had Stathis welcoming people -We had beer's (not free unfortunately ;-) ) -We had about 25 openSUSE people We had a lot of fun,we rocked until dawn,we got drunk, among all this we talked about the community we are building and we decided to arrange some meetings so that we can form work-groups for OBS and LI-F-E. People liked what we did so far as a community and they want to become a part of all this. I believe that this is a great success. The party was successful, I am probably still a little drunk ;-) Here are the first photos: http://www.flickr.com/photos/warlordfff more photos and videos are about to be released soon Kostas 'Warlordfff' Koudaras -- http://opensuse.gr http://amb.opensuse.gr http://warlordfff.tk me I am not me ------- Time travel is possible, you just need to know the right aliens I gave exams for God , but I failed in miracles -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+help@opensuse.org
Very nice my greek geeko friend I couldn't imagine you dancing with your handmade geeko after some drinks. By the way, I really appreciate your atitude, this is what we really need. Actions, we need geekos and ambassadors like you to help us to delivery and spread openSUSE message to the 4 corners of the world and sharing your experience is very valuable to us. I have a focused question about your ambassador program, did you miss something, I mean, during your event did you miss something that you may like to share with us? As Ambassadors what was your most difficult part to get this done? folders, flyers, any ambassadors guiding for launch parties? Do you have plans to do more launch parties? If so, what could you do different to get better results with less efforts? Did you miss a kind of "Ambassadors Launch Party Kit" ? If so, what do you believe must be inside this kit? Sorry for many questions, but there is no other way to improve something if we don't know where to improve it and this only can be made if we map difficulties and ideas and share with others ambassadors, just like you are already doing. Best Brazilian Regards Nice job Great work Keep having fun Congratulations CarlosRibeiro Em Qui, 2010-11-04 às 16:22 +0200, Kostas Koudaras escreveu:

Very nice my greek geeko friend
I couldn't imagine you dancing with your handmade geeko after some drinks.
Well we missed releasing a party on time, although Stathis helped organize a party 500 klm away from our hometown. As Ambassadors what was your most difficult part to get this done? Well that's a great question and the answer has maybe too much
folders, flyers, any ambassadors guiding for launch parties? Well we took openSUSE artwork we liked,we put inside the information we believe someone should have for our community and we had all of
Do you have plans to do more launch parties? If so, what could you do different to get better results with less efforts? First of all we are thinking big and outside the box to whatever we make so you might find a little crazy the following but is what we really thinking in doing for 11.4 release party. We are thinking Rock party of course and we are thinking 'Connection' and let me explain that.We are thinking simultaneously party’s connected to each other via net with image at least and sound if
Did you miss a kind of "Ambassadors Launch Party Kit" ? If so, what do you believe must be inside this kit? If by miss you mean use, well until the last time we were adding things
Hi, first of all thank you for your good words and don't care about the amounts of questions, its a pleasure talking about it :-) . 2010/11/5 Carlos Ribeiro <carlosalberto.net@gmail.com>: philosophic base,so much that you may think I'm exaggerate but...Also its a little big background story but you asked for it ;-) The sort version is that we had to change ourselves the way of thinking. Now as for the long version: When I became an ambassador we made a big conversation with Stathis(Diamond_gr) and at that time we couldn't find George(Ragecryx) or any other from the pre-existing Greek openSUSE community so we had to think how to create a community literally from scratch(if all go well I shall write an article about it sometime). We had to decide how we should do that, so we decided (and that was and sometimes still is the most difficult part) to think outside of the box and don't take the road all other communities in Greece did. We don't like many things in the Greek Linux community and we realize the only way to change something is to act. Fortunately other people who share our love for openSUSE came to us,also people 'devoted' to other distributions came to us for the reasons I've mentioned. Of course it's still the Start and the future will show if we acted wisely or snobbish. You see we realize that the job of a leader in a community is not to have people serving him but the leader's work is to listen to the community carefully and always help who ever needs help and solving the community's problems,The leader in a community must be the hardest working man of all.Anyway I hope I answered your question. them printed, also we asked ourselves what we would like to find to a launch party and we became creative. possible. We are not only thinking Greece, you see the time difference between European countries is 1 up to 3 hours maximum and that can make it possible, the gear needed exist to anyone’s home. The only maybe difficult parts on that is to find a bar with internet connection and a big screen. Now to the second part of your question,in the next party we will (hopefully) be a bigger community and we will share the work better but I don't think we could do something to get a better result with less efforts. like using green plates for the cake and what kind of candles we should use for 11.3 on the cake or if we should have balloons in a Rock party. If I was making an "Ambassadors Launch Party Kit" I would have the following items inside: -A Cake with candles like this http://www.flickr.com/photos/warlordfff/5145873652 -Fliers containing useful information about the openSUSE local and global community -Stickers, for some reason people love them. -A Geeko like mine (http://www.flickr.com/photos/warlordfff/5145279625),I promise if i can I will finish the How to next week. ;-) -Party gear with balloons and some noisy things like whistles and stuff like here http://www.flickr.com/photos/warlordfff/5145880734 -Dvd's with the distribution -If you have a screen openSUSE video-clips like those I made and I will upload one of these days -If I had the money I would made release party t-shirts (soon you will hear a proposition about it on marketing list about 11.4 release party) -Fun while organizing the party,I don't know how you can put fun in a kit but it is really important because i believe people can feel that. -A backup plan for everything because anything that can go wrong it will happen the day of the party, for example the PC that the bar had for playing and mixing the music crashed the moment the first people entered the bar,but there is almost nothing a smile cannot fix.
Sorry for many questions, but there is no other way to improve something if we don't know where to improve it and this only can be made if we map difficulties and ideas and share with others ambassadors, just like you are already doing.
