SPREADING openSUSE IN BANGLADESH
Dear all, I am Rashedul Kabir from Bangladesh. I am a student of Computer Science & Engineering at Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology, Chittagong, Bangladesh. I love working with Linux. I have been writing in Bangladesh Linux Users Forum in Bengali for a long time. I love openSUSE and want to work to spread it in our country. We, the users of openSUSE are trying to form a openSUSE Bangladesh community here. Hope we will announce it on January 1st. We want to work with this nice Linux distribution and its localization in Bengali. Thanks to all. Hi Rashedul Forming a local community is a great thing and it might be a bit more difficult than it looks but its a bit more fun too. Since we recently formed a local community here in Greece we could probably exchange opinions and I could help you wherever you might need help. Please fell free to ask for anything and please tell us where you found difficulties and the solutions you followed, so that in the end we could make something like a manual for other people that want to built local communities to read. Keep up the good work. Kostas Koudaras 2010/12/30 opu.r.kabir@gmail.com <opu.r.kabir@gmail.com>:

Yeah ! Forming a local community may be easy but leading it and keeping it united is kinda hard job I think. People are being more and more interested in Linux and opensource everyday. As you can see there are local team working on Linux distributions like Ubuntu, LinuxMint,Fedora and we all try to work together to make people more attracted towards Linux. And now, as we are going to introduce openSUSE Bangladesh team to the community some advice from you would be very helpful. Currently we have opened our website which will be online from 1st of January I hope. And we will have a blog where users can write and translate the tutorials. And when we will be strong enough we will move forward to develop and join the Bengali translation team as i think the current team has become inactive it will be helpful if you tell me the process how to start the translation process again. We have people to volunteer and we all want to see openSUSE in Bengali. Thanks. On Thu, Dec 30, 2010 at 11:03 AM, Kostas Koudaras <warlordfff@gmail.com> wrote:

Good job Rashedul. Creating a community is difficult but it's also fun being with friends and have fun. Please share with us your difficulties and ideas in order to help each other improve our community work. I hope it all goes well! Best wishes here from Greece! George Bratsos

Congratulations on your efforts. If you need any articles translated to Bengali or anything written in Bengali, do drop me a line. The Fedora and KDE people have some Bangla localisation experts. I'm sure they'll help whenever possible. I had earlier tried to get an openSUSE community working when I was still in West Bengal, but I moved before things worked out. I'll mail you some contacts off-list. Keep up the good work.

Dear Koushik We have our Fedora Bangladesh community here who are working on spreading it. We have Ubuntu Bangladesh and LinuxMint Bangladesh too. Here we have our forum on Linux where we all participate together ( http://forum.linux.org.bd/ ). The inclusion of openSUSE will be a complete new thing to the community as we are very few users here. But if We build up a separate platform for openSUSE, more people will come and join our team. So at this point I need help mostly on openSUSE. Fedora Bangladesh is working nicely here. And hope with some effort openSUSE Bangladesh team will be an active one too. Thanks.
