If memory serves me correctly, we gave out about 1000+ DVDs last year. But we're dealing with failing memory too. :-) 300 is too conservative given the size of SCaLE, in my opinion. Count on 600 at the very least.

I think if I remember right we only had one box left over last year and I took that with me and have given them out at School and LUGs. Uhh no, we definitely didn't have 2000. :-) And we had several 100-DVD boxes left over. I took 1 1/2 boxes down to San Diego with me for the launch party. We had about 1500 DVDs and I'm 90% certain we gave out about 900. I believe we gave about 2 (maybe 3?) boxes to LUG folks who requested them on the spot. Also, I think getting the smaller posters from Alan is a good idea. The big one that we had is nice but I don't think its worth going down to SD to get it and it had to be placed on an easel, whereas the smaller posters can easily be affixed without much contraption. By the way, depending on how many you get, we printed extra posters and asked SCaLE if we could post them around the site. They obliged and let us affix them to every easel in the building where they had their own main conference poster. So we DEFINITELY had some nice openSUSE awareness throughout the building.
