Hello All, I would like everyone to welcome Mr Sami Ullah, from Pakistan. Below you can find more about him.
Hello,
Dear Manu, Kostas & Carlos, I am from Pakistan, age 25 and employee of Distributor/Solution Partner of Novell. I've demonstrated /deployed SUSE/Novell Products in Institutes/Universities, Banks, Food, Beverage, Chemical, Textile & many more industries, I use SUSE Enterprise Linux Desktop 11 SP1 & openSUSE 11.3 on my notebook.
openSUSE is not famous as Redhat/Fedora & Ubuntu in my region, my next 6months plans for openSUSE are, to promote openSUSE in institutes/Universities and other different events, I'll coordinate to institutes/Universities, and plan to arrange events for promoting openSUSE.
Contents for event can be:
Why openSUSE. Introduction to openSUSE. Basic Installation & network setup. Desktop Customization, Basic Commands, YaST, Control Center, Software Installation, Repositories setup. Running Guest OS as Virtual Machine, Instant messengers.
Free Basic Documentation & Media can be provided to audience and also online links for more help.
After ending sessions, can be ask for feedback, which definitely will be helpful.
* Are you ready to start promoting openSUSE?
Yes, am ready and that's why I contacted you, I will search different ways for promoting openSUSE, and current ambassador's suggestions will be also useful :)
* What do you think is the best kept secret of openSUSE?
Novell, GUI, YaST and wonderful community.
* Why do you love to do this? Because I like openSUSE more than any other Linux distribution and also to help my region users locally :)
* How did you start with with Linux/openSUSE? What is your level of experience?
I'm using Linux since 2005 and openSUSE 2008, started openSUSE because of my job but after using on daily bases, I am loving it.
The ambassador program is currently pretty informal and we expect the ambassadors to organize themselves. So, please coordinate with other ambassadors on the opensuse-marketing mailing list: * share with them what you like to do * share what you did, e.g. what kind of event did you organize, how many people joined * share what you learned, explain what was great at your event, what you want to improve * create material that is usefull for you and other ambassadors as well
Of course I will do this, It will help me a lot
These questions are informal and a way to introduce you to the community. Also, as an ambassador, you're the expert on your country/region, so please share on the opensuse-marketing mailing
list a
bit about the openSUSE and the FOSS community in your country/region, e.g. what are their needs and also you can help us drive the current marketing push.
Okay, I will work on this, and provide my updates.
We'd like to send your answers to the opensuse-ambassador list and
thus
introduce you as new ambassador. Please keep this in mind when answering and if you don't agree, please tell us! Once you have answered, we will add you to the list.
Yes, Please
For adding you to the ambassador list at http://wiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Ambassadors_list, please tell me: your country, region/city and your user page in the wiki.
Pakistan, Karachi, http://en.opensuse.org/User:Samiullah
For details of creating a user page, see: http://news.opensuse.org/2010/07/12/new-wiki-what-now/
We know that openSUSE is very special to you and you might be tempted to give it a capital "O" but that's wrong, so please remember openSUSE is always spelled "openSUSE".
Yes, I know that, in my last e-mailed I have used "openSUSE" and sure I will not mistake :))
