Hi there, I'm an active member of the Mexican FLOSS community, I do talks and workshops in every congress, symposium and event that the universities invite me, but I think I missing something, I want to do more, what are you people doing in you local community to help the boys to develop skills that is going to be useful in their professional lifes? I'm thinking on online workshops, local groups of study to help with certifications, etc... Any advice is appreciated :-D -- Miguel Barajas - GnuOwned Follow me on Twitter @gnuowned openSUSE Member openSUSE Ambassador -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+owner@opensuse.org

Hi there,

Well in Greece we make workshops, talks and stuff, we have an IRC channel that we promote so that everybody who doeas not speak proper English can ask for help there, we have our own place in http://forums.opensuse.org/ we make several release Party in Various Cities across Greece, we translate the wiki in Greek we used to translate the Weekly news, nowdays we organise the Second openSUSE Collaboration Summer Camp (http://www.os-el.gr/summercamp/en/) where we make presentations about the community tools we use and we bring people from other FOSS communities to show us how they work and exchange Feedback so that we can become better combining all that with beers, fun sun and occationally a pool or a beach ;-) . All this requires a serius amount of personal time but the fun from the collaboration pays back for it. I would love to help you in anything of the above you would like to make and tell you how we do it. We are not so much into certifications but this is one thing you could tell me about how to do it. You see I believe that this is the true spirit of the ambassadors, collaborating so that everbody will maximise effectiveness localy so that the broader openSUSE community will grow bigger and bigger strengthen our place in the world of Gnu/Linux.
Any advice is appreciated :-D
