Welcome to Rogerio as Brazilian Ambassador
Please welcome Rogerio Ferreira as new Brazilian openSUSE ambassador! As usual now I'm appending his comments as self-introduction - this time both in Portugeze and English, Andreas ---------- Forwarded Message ---------- * What have you done already for openSUSE? Spreading openSUSE through Virtualizatio training with Xen. Showing that openSUSE is only distribution that went ahead and packaged version 4.0 of the Xen kernel. * What are your plans for promoting openSUSE? I will speak at Xen Directions in South America with Xen on top of openSUSE 11.3 and I will write an article for Linux Magazine on the same subject. * Are you ready to start promoting openSUSE Sim, e inclusive tenho planos de palestrar em eventos de software livre sobre openSUSE. Yes, and even have plans to speak at events free software about openSUSE. * What do you think is the best kept secret of openSUSE? Ela sempre surpreende a todos com inovação, enquanto outras distribuições demoram a implementar algo, ela dá o primeiro passo. Como fez com o Xen 4.0. It always surprises everyone with innovation, while other distributions are quite slow to implement something, it takes the first step. As he did with Xen 4.0. * Why do you love to do this? It is fascinating to disclose a serious work and be able to contribute so that others may have the same vision. * How did you start with with Linux/openSUSE? What is your level of experience? Possuo as certificações LPIC-1, LPIC-2, LPIC-3 e LPI-302. I already have 10 years of experience with Linux and Free Software. I have participated in several projects involving various Linux distributions including openSUSE. I have the certifications LPIC-1, LPIC-2, LPI and LPIC-3-302 *The ambassador program is currently pretty informal and we expect the ambassadors to organize themselves. So, please coordinate with other ambassadors on the opensuse-marketing mailing list. I have great desire to participate in regular events and keep in touch with the other ambassadors through mailing lists and even organize a site with updated documentation. So that it contributes to the spread of openSUSE in Brazil. * Also, as an ambassador, you're the expert on your country/region, so please share on the opensuse-marketing mailing list a bit about the openSUSE and the FOSS community in your country/region, e.g. what are their needs. The main need that I see is trying to organize a documentation in our language so that others may have more interest in using openSUSE as well as documentation that RedHat provides to the CentOS project. I'm interested to write good technical documentation to meet this need. -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
