Hey Ambassadors please all give a warm welcome to our new ambassador from India, Saurabh Sood . Below you can learn more about his relationship with openSUSE as he told us in his own words. 1.) What have I done for openSUSE so far? I have given talks regarding openSUSE, and the open Build Service in my college. Recently, I gave a lightning talk on OSC Plugins at PyCon India 2011. I have also helped people in my college to install, and use and troubleshoot openSUSE. I am also working on Developing Plasma Widgets for the Open Build Service. The project can be found at github. https://github.com/saurabhsood91/Build-Service-Plasma-Widgets I'm also active on openSUSE channels on IRC. My Nick is saurabhsood91 2.) Plans for Promoting openSUSE (next 6 months) I am going to take a talk on openSUSE on behalf of GTUG Manipal this week. I have also applied for a talk on OSC plugins at FOSDEM. As part of Linux User's Group, Manipal, we conduct Linux Install Fest for First Year students. We will be conducting an openSUSE install fest during that time. Manu Gupta was the ambassador for our college, but he is passing out shortly from the college. I can take over from him, and continue the work. 3.) Ready to Start promoting openSUSE? I am ready to start promoting openSUSE on a wider scale. I have already got people interested in promoting openSUSE in my college, and I can continue to do the same as part of the Ambassadors project. 4.) Best Kept secret of openSUSE? SUSE stands for Software und System Entwicklung, and it was earlier written as SuSE. 5.) Why do you love to do this? I started out in openSUSE, with having little knowledge of using Linux. The openSUSE wiki, Reference E-Books helped me get over handling linux. The IRC channels are quite active, and I always got help whenever I needed it. The community is amazing. I submitted a proposal for GSoC 2011. It wasnt accepted, but I worked on it voluntarily, and got the support of the community. 6.) How I started with Linux My first experience with Linux was 5 years back, when I installed Ubuntu. I just learnt to work in the linux environment, without learning much. I started using Linux seriously two years back. I used ubuntu for 6 months. Manu Gupta coerced me into trying openSUSE, and since then, I have been using and supporting openSUSE. -- http://opensuse.gr http://amb.opensuse.gr http://own.opensuse.gr http://warlordfff.tk me I am not me ------- Time travel is possible, you just need to know the right aliens -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-ambassadors+owner@opensuse.org
