that's what I'm using now, and interestingly it doesn't really work out well.. I was hoping radeonhd would be a more promising driver eventually..
Yes, I mean radeon (xf86-video-ati) instead of radeonhd (xf86-video-radeonhd). However you have to use git version. The real promise for future is KMS, where kernel is responsible for setting modes (resolution, refreshing rate).
